DKDP

KD*P (Potassium Dideuterium Phosphate) is the most widely used material for electro-optical applications due to its excellent E-O properties.  An electro-optic material such as KD*P can alter the polarization state of light passing through it, when an applied voltage induces birefringence change in the crystal.  When used in conjunction with polarizer’s, the KD*P pockels cell can function as optical Q-switch to generate laser pulses.  KD*P is used for applications from UV up to around 1.1 µm where absorption limits its use in active cavities, although it can be useful at longer wavelengths when a few percent of absorption can be tolerated.
